We Raised $22,000 For Our Next Album!!

March 19, 2012

Amazing news! Together we raised $22,000 for our next record with Kickstarter!

We originally set out to raise $10,000, but you guys came out in force to support us and more than doubled what we were asking for!!

Can’t thank you enough for all the love. I’ll be posting regular updates on Facebook and Twitter as we head into the studio to lay down new tracks.

At this moment, I’m rounding out writing sessions for the new songs, and laying out instrumentation. I expect to start studio sessions early this summer, and release new music by summer’s end / early fall.

Again, thanks for all your support guys. Really, truly, awesome. You’re as much a part of this record as I am, can’t wait to make you something you’ll be proud of.

Best of 2011

January 2, 2012

As the year draws to a close, it turns out we made a couple “Best of 2011” lists.

Gawker put us on its “Heroes of 2011” along with Alec Baldwin and Barney Frank. We couldn’t be prouder to be on a stranger list.

And Failbook has us at #4 on its Best of 2011 countdown, for… well you know what.

Happy new year, let’s all kill it in 2012.

I Crashed Paris Hilton’s Birthday And Accidentally The Whole Cake

February 17, 2011

I woke up this morning with a $2000 birthday cake in my living room.

It’s big. It’s red. It says “Paris”.

And its fucking delicious.

24 hours ago I got a call from my well-connected buddy Kevin.

“Dude, I’m crashing Paris Hilton’s birthday tonight. Pretty sure I can get you in,” he says.

“Pretty sure you can’t,” I say.

“Pretty sure I will,” he says.

90 minutes later we’re strolling down a red carpet like we belong there.

What I Learned From Mickey Avalon

February 1, 2011

“I’m kinda fucked up.”

It shouldn’t be surprising to hear those words coming out of Mickey Avalon.

But its funny to hear him say it.

“I’m kinda fucked up,” Mickey says, “but not too fucked up to rap.”

We’re at Cisco Adler’s pad for a recording of “Cisco’s House”, a weekly talk show Cisco’s been broadcasting live on Justin.tv. Mickey is the evening’s guest, and he’s patiently waiting sidestage for his cue, rolling one up to pass the time.

“Now let’s bring out my friend, Mickey Avalon!” says Cisco.

Pick My Album Cover: Chicks or Kicks

July 30, 2010

Some album covers are just sick.

But most are just WTF.

In order to avoid a self-realized WTF, I thought I’d enlist you guys to pick my mixtape cover for me.

Here are 3 possibly good / awful choices. Tell me in the comments on facebook which one I should choose. The one with the most comments wins.

A Tale of Three Studios

February 25, 2010

If you have a friend who’s a musician, odds are you’ve had this conversation:

YOU: Hey man, what are you doing tomorrow?
FRIEND: Oh, I’m in the studio all day.

‘In the studio?’ …ok, but what does that MEAN?

He says it with the nonchalance of “I’m gonna be in my cubicle filing TPS reports,” but the magic word ‘studio’ conjures images of a dimly lit, model-infested opium den with Pete Doherty blowing rails off Kate Moss’s supine ass.

Not that those studios don’t exist… but most are far more sterile than their stereotypes would have you believe.

When I tell my friends I’m “in the studio,” here are 3 examples of what I could be referring to:
