Infinity And Beyond

June 3, 2010

I’m not sure what comes after life. But I’ve always found something romantic about the first law of thermodynamics:

Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It can only change forms.

If you believe life consists of energy, what happens to that energy when life ends?

In a time when time’s moved past us, I’ll be there. Ad Infinitum.

Who’s Your Disaster?

May 25, 2010

One video a week is hard work — but here’s the next. Lovingly titled, “I’ll Be Your Disaster (If You’ll Be My Instead)”

Maybe more than any other song, a lot of people ask me what (and who) this one’s about.

Victims will remain nameless, but here’s the low down on the lyrics.

At its core, Disaster is about being with the wrong person when the right one won’t have you.

You know its no good for you, no good for her, but you do it. Because that’s human nature — to replace what we can’t have with what will have us.

It’s selfish, it’s hard to swallow, but it’s human. It’s a contract of shame: I’ll be your disaster… if you’ll be my instead.

Watch it here:

New Music: Bedrock (acoustic remix)

May 11, 2010

This song seemed destined to be played acoustic.

I’ve been playing it at shows and afterparties for months now. It’s a crowd favorite, so figured it was a natural for the next video.

You may notice I skip right over the Nicki Minaj verse. You’re welcome.

New Music: PAZ – Monday

May 1, 2010

Every Monday for the next 6 months, I’ll be releasing a new video.

The first one is coincidentally titled “Monday”. Not because it’s Monday, but because it’s a coincidence.

Enjoy — here’s “Monday” featuring Pat Moley on guitar.

I’ll Be Your Disaster (If You’ll Be My Instead)

November 12, 2009

UPDATE: More than 7,500 people have subscribed to my lyrics on Scribd in the last 24 hours. Awesome.

“Don’t speak

I’m counting on your sympathy / to swallow all the words you’re chewing on.”

Starting today, I’ll be posting lyrics to a new song every so often on Scribd.com.

The first one is “I’ll Be Your Disaster If You’ll Be My Instead.

It’s not your typical song about a girl. No unrequited love, no loss…

Just plain selfishness.

It’s about knowing who you’re meant to be with, but not — about being with an alternative just to keep yourself occupied.

About using each other. And maybe not mutually.

I’ll be your disaster… if you’ll be my instead.

It’s not pretty. But relationships frequently aren’t, I guess.
